My mission is to bridge the gap between education and industry, with a strong belief in the imperative of universal design education for a sustainable planet. The rapid advancement of AI has posed challenges across all sectors, limiting opportunities. Now, more than ever, we must cultivate innovators through the profound synergy of empathy and human-computer interaction.
Before embarking on my journey in education, I delved into the world of design recruitment, collaborating with global talent firms and filling pivotal roles across the US, UK, and Asia. I had the privilege of assisting remarkable designers at all career levels, from junior UX designers to Directors of User Experience.
My time as a recruiter offered invaluable insights, as I engaged with candidates and absorbed feedback from clients, discerning the key pain points from both sides of the employment equation. This experience helped me grasp what defines an exceptional designer and what it takes to leave a lasting impression on prospective employers through a stellar portfolio.
What struck me during my tenure as a recruiter was the significant shortcomings of UX Bootcamps in preparing students for the workforce. Shockingly, a substantial majority of bootcamp graduates I introduced to my clients struggled in 90 percent of their interviews. This was disheartening, particularly considering the considerable cost of these bootcamps, ranging from $8,000 to $15,000. Such an investment is exorbitant for many and, for some, represents a significant portion of their life savings.
Motivated by this disparity, I collaborated with seasoned designers and educators to create an affordable bootcamp that equips students with a strong foundation in UX. Our program is uniquely structured, divided into Research and Design components, unlike most bootcamps that merely teach a set of tools. We delve deep into the psychology of human behaviour, impart knowledge on crafting exceptional case studies, and, most importantly, prepare students for the demands of the job itself.
